Events at Malton Museum
Malton Museum reopens for the season on Saturday 4 April!
Read on for the latest news on our new exhibitions, guided tours and events, plus details on this year's popular Malton Roman Festival and more...
Two new exhibitions for 2026
This year's exhibition refresh has brought two new local stories to Malton Museum.
Discover a world of evil eyes, curse tablets and phallic amulets in Roman Myth and Mysticism and witness the impact of Monks, Merchants and Medicine (created in partnership with the Woodhams Stone Collection).
New guided tour: Charles Dickens' Malton
Owing to popular demand, our Tours team have created a new guided tour for 2026, exploring the popular Victorian author's relationship with the Malton people and places, and the influence of local people and places on Dickens' books.
Our full schedule of tours is now on our website.
Malton Roman Festival V - early bird tickets now on sale!
Our popular Roman festival returns to Orchard Field this summer on Sunday 19 July, 10 - 4!
Featuring cavalry displays, talks, reenactors, children's activities, feasting and more, early bird tickets are now available at 10% discount!
Back a Bale and support Malton Roman Festival
Do you know why we use hay bales as seating at our Roman festival instead of chairs? As the festival is held on Orchard Field, the site of the original Roman fort, we cannot risk chair legs sinking into the soil and damaging the archaeology hidden below the surface!
Hay bales are the perfect alternative, but this year hay prices have doubled because of the wet winter. So we are asking our supporters to Back a Bale and help provide lots of comfy seating for festival goers to rest on.
All bale backers will have their name displayed on their bale!
You are cordially invited to the ball (and soiree!) of the year...
After the success of last year's Regency Ball, Malton shall be hosting its own Regency Weekend, with a Country Ball on Friday 8 October at the Milton Rooms and an intimate soiree at the beautiful York House. Both events will enjoy live music from Ebor Quartet and dancing overseen by historic dancing expert Lottie Adcock.
Tickets (including a discounted ticket for both events) are now available from our website.
We hope to see you at lots of exciting events this year! All our events can be booked via our website.
Malton Museum is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4 April - 31 October, 10:30 - 15:30.
We look forward to welcoming you back!
From all the team at Malton Museum.
