Speaker Jane Ashby - Journey on the historical Silk Road
This talk is exploring three countries encountered on the Silk Road, such as Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan with visits to such cities of legend as Bukhara, Samarkand and Khiva. A period when the Silk road was busy with caravans.
The talk is fully illustrated with many of the extraordinary buildings which in some cases date back to the 10th century and how even today the Silk Road is becoming important again to Russia and China.
Entrance on door. Members free, Visitors £3 (includes refreshments).
